45th Annual Olympia Toy Run

Event date:
Sat, 12/03/2022 - 8:30am

Thank you for riding and supporting the Salvation Army and Washington State in the 45th Annual Olympia Toy Run. This is a fun ride and important state-wide community event and we are proud to continue Eastside Chapter's participation and gift-giving. Read more about the ride here https://www.olytoyrun.com

Details:
Date:      Saturday, Dec 3rd
Where:   Meet at Eastside Harley Davidson
Time:      Arrive at 9:00am, Safety Meeting at 9:15, KSU at 9:30am
Ride:      Come with a full tank, rain gear, warm clothes, and a gift to donate. If gifts are larger than will fit on bikes, as they sometimes are, we will have someone drive a car with all of the gifts. If the weather is good, we'll head south on I-405 and take 167 to 512 and pick up I-5 near Joint Base Lewis-McChord to get to South Sound Center. We'll arrive SSC around 11:00 and have time to drop off our gifts for the children, watch the performances, hang out with other participants, and start up for the 1:00PM parade departure from SSC through Olympia. We'll still go even if the weather is bad, but will take I-5 all the way south instead of the more scenic route of 167 and 512.

This is a rain-or-shine ride, so we're going in whatever weather December 3rd gives us. Safety is a group and individual responsibility and if it's raining, make your decision to go or not go based on your experience and comfort level. Make sure your tires have good tread, your brakes and clutch are in good condition, you have rain gear, and other checks as you see fit. As in every group ride, safety is our most important factor.

Please see the attached route and .gpx file. The parade route departs SSC to the south and takes State Ave St and 5th Ave to Marathon Park where the parade ends. There's no stop at the end; we'll just continue on Deschutes Parkway to I-5 North and proceed to Northwest Harley Davidson where we will stop for a break and lunch before taking I-5 and 405 back to Bellevue. That makes for a long time between breakfast and lunch, so eat a good breakfast before the ride and bring a power snack and water to consume while we're marshalling in South Sound Center.

As we approach Eastside on our return, riders will depart the group with a thumbs up to the sweep to break off and head home.
